What are Stocks?
Stocks are shares of ownership in a corporation. The stock market is a place where stocks are bought and sold. The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) is the corporation that governs our local stock market. People buy or invest in stocks to benefit from a company's tremendous value potential over time.
Once you buy or invest into a stock you now become part owner or a shareholder of that particular corporation.
2 Ways to Invest in the Stock Market
DIRECT. Open an investment account through any available online broker. Once you have an account, you can already buy and sell stocks directly within the trading hours.
INDIRECT. Through manage funds like Mutual Funds. A Mutual Fund is essentially a company that collects money from different investors and then allocates them in a variety of investment options like stocks.

Kung direct stock market ka mag-iinvest, very limited ang mabibili ng P10,000 mo, or even 100,000.
Pero sa mutual fund, ang P1,000 mo ay automatic nakakalat sa iba't ibang kumpanya sa stock market. Malugi man ang dalawa, break-even ang lima, lumipad ang sampu, PANALO ka pa din!
SAFETY AND TRANSPARENCY. Mutual funds are highly regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the Investment Company Act and its implementing rules.
They are also regularly audited by an independent auditor. The assets of the mutual fund are held by a third-party custodian bank.
TAX EXEMPT. Gains realized by investors upon redemption of their shares in a mutual fund have been excluded from the definition of gross income effective January 1, 1998, and are, therefore, not subject to personal income tax stated in R.A. # 8424, otherwise known as the Tax Reform Act of 1997.
This benefit alone makes it more profitable investing in a mutual fund.
